Though this sounds like the title of the latest chick flick, it's really a combination of a comedy of errors and a Greek tragedy. It flip flops depending on how the meeting with my advisor goes and what new Herculean trials have been laid before me. I do have it a lot easier than most as I have heard some real horror stories. One fellow masochist had his topic changed a few days before he was to take his comprehensive exams and present his proposal. He made it, but I think he lost a good deal of hair.
I do have a committee and a time range for my comps and proposal presentation. I think I even have a tentative accepted reading list. It helps that I have a school imposed deadline of having to be a doctoral candidate by the end of the summer.
Till then, my proposal is sitting on my hard drive percolating and I am working on the next algorithm. At least this one is just a small change to SMRGOL. That's a good thing since I have 8 days to implement this new version and write a paper on it for a conference.
